Android Support / API for talking to MCC Server?

I currently run MCC on a tablet that I use for home automation.  I wrote an app that controls various things in my house and when I press the "media center" button, it opens up MCC so I can control the content on the media center.  Very cool.

However, I'd like to take it a step further an display "Now Playing" Artist/song/album art info on the main screen in my app.  Do you have an API or documentation available about how to connect to the MCC server application?  Is it possible for a third-party app to talk to MCC server?

Android Support / Trouble updating on Android

Is there some way to update from within the app? I purchased and installed media center control back in ~May, but there is no update option from Android Market.  I am using a generic tablet from China, so I suspect that may be the problem.  Is there some way to force the app to update without repurchasing it?
