Configuring for use over mobile phone network

I have followed the instructions in the User Manual for setting up to work over the Internet but there is still a problem. When I run up the MCC client on my Smartphone, I get the message "Connecting to 192.168.2.5...". It just sits there with this message for as long as I leave it. Mobile network signal strength is good so that is not the problem. What else can I try please?
(Note that when I switch to WiFi, MCC client still works OK over my home network. It is just the connection via the mobile data network/internet that will not work, but this is the most important means of access for me.

Could it be something to do with the WAN connection type which is PPPoA?
