Heads up for MCC users with MyMovies
« on: October 15, 2011, 13:24:01 »
Hi all,

Many people probably know this already but the latest release of MyMovies version 4 now encrypts the MyMovies.xml file. So unless Markus knows how to decrypt it movie information will not be available in MCC.

Obviously users that create the MyMovies.xml file by other means (MCM for example) will not be effected by this.

Mick.

Hi,

thanks for reporting this. These are bad news. MyMovies is encrypting mymovies.xml since version 4.02 Pre Release 2.
http://www.mymovies.dk/download/windows-7-media-center/changelog-pre-release.aspx

The situation is described here:

The only option in the moment is to use an older version of MyMovies or use another tool like http://www.mediacentermaster.com/.
EDIT: Maybe http://mikinho.com/yammm/ is an option too.

Maybe it's time to leave MyMovies. It's possible that MCC uses http://www.themoviedb.org/ for metatdata. I have already looked into themoviedb back then. But decided to use MyMovies because the detection was working much better.

I'll have to think about it.
