problem with music
« on: December 03, 2010, 19:11:45 »
Hi,

Just started using the app.

Yesterday, succeed connecting with WIFI, today tried to use the bluetooth.

Strange thing, although yesterday, I didn't think I had any problem playing music, today I can't change album.

When listening to one song, then clicking on another (from another album) - then choosing play, MCC shows "loading" but doesn't change the music.
The solution is to choose "play next" instead of "play" then use the green arrow (bottom right).
Or to play a video, then choose again the new album.

Any thought?

Thanks,
James

Hi,

are you using the newest version (v1.5.0)? You can check the version on the server if you right click the MCC icon and click on "Info...".

Yes, latest version.

I tried to reinstall everything, still no joy.
Very strange indeed, as I think I had no problem on the first day...

Are you playing music in Media Center or Media Player?
If you use Mc, what's happening if you start playing a video? Do you get informations in the quick search bar?

Media center.

When I play a video, I get the title + time in the quick bar at the bottom of the screen.

Strange thing, when I play music, and press the I button, it says "no item in the list"

Isn't it supposed to display the current playlist (playing now)?

Ok, then the MediaSink is working.

Yes, pressing the "i" should return the current playlist.

Please download the attachment and run enable_MCC_verbose_debug.reg
Then reproduce the problem and post the "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\MCC_Server\mcc_server_debug.txt" please.
If you start MCC server you will get a popup window in behind the WMC window which informs you about the enabled debugging. You have to click ok first and then switch back to WMC.

EDIT: Afterwards don't forget to run disable_MCC_verbose_debug.reg to disable the debugging.

Hi!

Thanks for your help!

I'm attaching a debug file for your info.

I tried to play a song from an album (works ok), then tried to go to next song (works ok), then went to another albums' song (didn't work), then went again to another albums' song and chose "play next", then pressed the next song button (worked ok)

The problem is, that MCC isn't able to create it's temporary playlist (_MCC_CurrentPlaylist.wpl).

I have found a thread at MS which describes similar problem user had.

Please try the following:
Quote
Fixed the ___ Issue!! believe it or not it was this easy!! (only if you have this folder). When you create your default folder which you use as you media library eg, Music or public music (where all your songs are located) you should see a folder called "My Playlist" where your playlists are created. If you also see a folder called "playlists" in the music folder DELETE IT!!! seems to conflict with "my playlists" and wat ya know you can create a playlist!! check your facts microsoft instead of telling people to reinstalling!! hope this helps!!

If this don't work you can read this thread:
http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7music/thread/dcc6644f-9122-45b2-be4f-6d0fe9e9056d

Some user reported that he had removed the default music folder form the music library (in explorer), but WMP want's to save the playlist to that location.

Maybe just try this to verify the problem. Open WMPlayer and try to create a playlist, save it and reopen WMP. If it's still there, please search it in the folder "Wiedergabelisten" or "Playlist" or something in your music library.

EDIT: You have to know that WMC uses WMP in the background.  ;)

Works like a charm!

I didn't have any local folder selected in my libraries, because all my files are on a server. That's why WMP couldn't create a playlist (read-only on my server)
Pointing media center to a local folder solved the problem!

Thanks again for your help!
